The News Review is seeking three paid interns for the paper. The engagement will last approximately six months with flexible schedules. It is intended for individuals residing in Greenbelt who have a sense of commitment to the city and its residents and who expect to remain here in the foreseeable future. Recipients do not need to be students and the opportunity is open to any adult age group. The positions are intended to help promote citizen engagement with the paper, especially outside the central core of the city. They are paid partly through a grant from the Greenbelt Community Foundation with matching funds from the paper. Two internships will promote the paper in Greenbelt East and Greenbelt West respectively. The third internship will address the city’s growing Hispanic community and will require native-speaker fluency in Spanish and a good command of spoken and written English. All three internships will require the ability to engage with individuals and organizations in the community and the capability to write some articles for the paper, preferably with photographs and captions. The Spanish-speaking position will also require some translation of articles and captions into Spanish for the webpage. For the Spanish-speaking position, a connection with Springhill Lake Elementary would be advantageous. Email a resume of your education and accomplishments and an approximately 250-word description of ways in which you would imagine interacting with your community to help connect the News Review and city residents in one of the target neighborhoods. Emails should go to editor@greenbeltnewsreview.com with the subject line INTERNS. Call 301-655-7008 with any questions. Letters and resumes may also be sent or hand delivered to our offices in the Community Center addressed to The Greenbelt News Review (INTERNS), 15 Crescent Road, Suite 100, Greenbelt, MD 20770.
