We’re off to see the wizard.
On stage.
At the Greenbelt Arts Center.
This production of The Wizard of Oz, which runs for 12 performances on weekends from November 24 (the day after Thanksgiving) through December 17, will fill the heart with the joy of the holiday season. Watch an amazing cast of 23 singersdancers-actors who range in age from 7 to over 60, including many Greenbelters. Recall the musical adventures faced by Dorothy Gale and her intrepid companions, the scarecrow, the tinman and the cowardly lion from the classic 1939 film. This play is based upon that beloved movie. Director Jon Gardner has enlisted a terrific team, including producer Win Britt, music director Daniel Flores and choreographers Rikki Howie Lacewell and Elizabeth Gardner to bring it all to life.
Cheer for the heroes, hiss at the Wicked Witch of the West and sing along to the lilting tunes. This is a delightful family experience that you won’t want to miss. Plan to attend on Fridays and Saturdays, November 24, 25, December 1, 2, 8, 9, and 15 at 8 p.m. or Sundays, November 26, December 3, 10, 17 and Saturday, December 16 all at 2 p.m. For more information and ticket sales, visit greenbeltartscenter. org.
