The 65th Greenbelt Labor Day Festival Parade, will be smaller due to Covid-19 precautions, but up to 35 performance groups and community organizations will ensure that the show goes on. Council members will be the only political representatives.
Greenbelt Elementary PTA Used Book Sale will happen in a hybrid format, with stations in neighborhood front yards as well as in the town center.
Games for all ages will be happening throughout the weekend. Kids’ fun includes diaper derby and all kinds of silly races. Adults can enjoy horseshoes, cornhole and table tennis. Youth and mixed ages can toss water balloons, try scavenger hunting, eat the most pies and tour Greenbelt by bicycle.
During Information Day on Saturday, get acquainted with Greenbelt’s community groups and organizations and learn the latest news about their projects and services.
At the Craft Fair on Sunday, local crafters will display and offer for sale their handmade creations.
Food Trucks will provide a variety of fun foods this year, in lieu of the usual booths.
A Community Drum Circle for all ages and experience on Friday evening will be led by Katy Gaughan.
The Children’s Pet Show on Saturday will welcome and award Greenbelt’s greatest pets and their best buddies.
A Memorial Gathering and service on Saturday on the hill behind the Mother and Child statue will honor friends and relatives who have died but are remembered together.
The Museum will sponsor a Retro Town Fair on Sunday and award prize ribbons in a number of traditional homemaking categories.
Live performances on the stage will include the ever-popular Relics and also Fast Eddie and the Slowpokes.
The Art Show and Photography Shows will be virtual this year.
