Greenbelters are encouraged to enjoy a fun and safe (abbreviated) Labor Day Festival. The schedule of events is on the back page of this issue of the News Review and on the website greenbeltlaborday.com. Due to Covid-19, the public is requested to wear masks and avoid crowding. All in-person events will be outside. There won’t be a shuttle bus or bleachers this year, so bring chairs or blankets to sit on the lawn.
Greenbelt’s Outstanding Citizen will be announced on Friday. Information Day, including a compost tour, will take place on Saturday, as will the hybrid PTA book sales located in yards throughout the city (rain date is Sunday). Book sale locations can be found at tinyurl.com/ges-pta-books. There will also be book sale tables at the Center on Friday, Saturday and Monday. The Craft Fair and Retro Town Fair are on Sunday. There will also be virtual art and photo shows and various games, activities and entertainment events throughout the Festival. On Monday, the Labor Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m., followed by Bingo on the lawn in front of the Community Center.
There will be no carnival rides this year, and there will be only two booths: the police and information booths, both near the Municipal Building. Throughout the weekend there will be food trucks in the nearby parking lot: Simple Pleasures, Big D’s Wings, Good to Da Bone BBQ, Little Italy Sausage Company, Funnel Fare, MMpanadas, PKG’s Mobile Kitchen and Jammin Flava.
