The 2019 Creative Kids Campers (CKC) are working madly in their art lab and evolving installation in the gallery of the Community Center. While playing around together with lots of fun junk they are building monsters from Greek Myths. Or, as CKC Instructor Aaron
Springer calls it, paper and multimedia assemblages designed and built by committee demonstrating the power of collaboration. Follow Hercules on his labors, and enter if you dare. Pass Cerberus and its three heads, each expecting a particular snack. The Cretan Bull
guards the exhibit; hope he’s tired after fighting Hercules. Watch out for the Hydra, whose nine heads could be nine kinds of trouble, except probably not because it’s named Cuddles. Maybe you can pick an apple from the Gold and Silver Apple Tree of the Hesperides.
Encounter these and other strange creatures in the Gallery through August 9, Mondays through Fridays from 4 to 10 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more of Hercules’s adventures, the Creative Kids will perform the original musical, Hercules and Hippolyta, on Fridays July 12, July 26 and August 9 at 10 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. in the Community Center Auditorium. Free tickets are available in advance at the Community Center.
