Mike Funt’s circus classes for children and adults and Spooky Shakespeare classes for teens began on Saturday, September 14.
In the circus classes, students are taught a wide variety of skills including, but not limited to, juggling, stilt-walking, unicycle and equilibristic skills – which deal with balancing acts such as tightrope walking. Funt started teaching the circus class this past summer. He said that the classes are a good way for people who have some previous experience to come in and practice. Moreover, he said that participants can use equipment they don’t have at home.
Ramona Amin, an attorney, said that she took the circus class because “I have always wanted to learn how to ride the unicycle.” Eleanor Roosevelt High School senior, Julie Diebolt, 17, said she has attended summer circus camps for three to four years, while also juggling scarves for practice.
