Contra Dances
7–9:45pm, Community Center Gym, $10 (cash at door). Beginner lesson at 6:30pm. The City of Greenbelt is co-sponsoring Contra Dances with the Folklore Society of Greater Washington (FSGW). Contra Dance is fun, fun, fun! It is danced to live music which can have an array of instruments depending on the band. There is a caller who calls the dance by doing a “walk through” before each dance. At the beginning of each evening dance, there is a 30-minute lesson to go over all the basic steps that will be called. Call 240-542-2054 for info.

Greenbelt Pumpkin Festival - Community Carve Off
5–8pm, Roosevelt Center, FREE. This free annual event gives community members the chance to participate in the Pumpkin Festival by carving a pumpkin that will be placed on the Pumpkin Walk the next evening. You'll need to bring carving utensils, but otherwise this event is free (though donations are appreciated). We'll have music, merriment, and pumpkins at the ready, waiting for your creativity and community spirit! All are welcome.

Pumpkin Walk
5–8:30pm, Greenbelt Forest Preserve - North Track, FREE. An annual tradition! Come see the Greenbelt Forest Preserve as you never have before in this family-friendly walk through the woods. Jack o'lanterns carved by community members at the Community Carve-Off are placed in the woodland trail. A delightful 1/2 miles trek awaits you in the forest. This trail is NOT maintained so be prepared to scale logs and get close to Mother Nature. Goatman and other magical creatures come out at 6PM. Fun for the entire family. Come be part of the tradition!
