July 4th dawned unpropitious. A leaden sky threatened rain from the outset though all systems stayed go through the day. But as afternoon overcast its way to evening, the rain started and it didn’t stop for a long time. We don’t remember the last time the fireworks were actually delayed.
Still, the city shouldered the task of doing a repeat performance and on Tuesday, one could see officers from the Greenbelt Police working to create the safe haven we have come to expect even with the pressures of a normal mid-week work day. Congratulations to the city and its staff for regrouping so effectively and to citizens for turning out in the grand tradition.
