Four members of the Greenbelt community were recognized last weekend in Ocean City at the annual State Association Conference for the Maryland Recreation and Parks Association (MRPA).
Rebekah Sutfin was sworn in as chair of the Therapeutic Recreation (TR) branch after a year of being the chairperson-elect. Along with the Recreation and Leisure Services and Parks and Resource Conservation branches, TR is one of three branches within the association. Its purpose is to advocate and provide resources for inclusion specialists, hospital workers and more.
Stephen Parks, who is a supervisor at the Greenbelt Aquatic & Fitness Center, won Member of the Year. Karen Haseley, who retired from her position as Greenbelt TR Supervisor in 2017, won the Retired Life Award, and both Haseley and Greenbelt Community Center supervisor Di Quynn-Reno were members of the Professional Certification Board, which won Committee of the Year.
