County Councilmember Todd Turner touched on county zoning rewrite concerns, the FBI headquarters and other issues during his listening session held in the Municipal Building on March 15.
The meeting, attended by about a dozen people including five city councilmembers, started with Turner highlighting developments in the county including the opening of the new Wayne Curry county administration building in Largo, as well as the MGM Casino in National Harbor.
Concerning the ongoing zoning rewrite, Turner introduced Project Manager Chad Williams who works for the Prince George’s County Park and Planning Commission. The zoning rewrite, the first one in 51 years, has been underway since 2014 and Williams’ group is nearing the completion of their part of it. He hopes to have the 220- page report to the county council by the end of the month. The proposal will then go through the legislative process, taking a minimum of 18 months with more opportunities for public interaction.
