The drum circle will run from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Aspiring percussionists of all ages are welcome to join and perform on their own instruments or borrow ones available while supplies last. The Greenbelt Concert Band then will perform a variety of patriotic songs and melodies from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Fireworks will begin at dark, around 9 p.m., and will last about 25 minutes. The best viewing spots along the lake will be claimed first. Those who come early can bring a blanket and picnic and enjoy a leisurely holiday afternoon socializing and enjoying free entertainment and activities for all ages, from romping in the playground to strolling around the park’s lovely 1.3-mile wooded trail.
