The first half of the March 13 meeting of the Greenbelt City Council was given over to the previously reported recognition of the winners of the ACE Educator Awards and of Camille and Brian Butler in providing community education on health issues associated with carrying the sickle cell trait. During the second half, council moved on to a number of business items, including approval of a grant application for engineering design work on Cherrywood Lane, amendment of a development agreement for the North Core of Greenbelt Station, first reading of an ordinance to revise requirements for the filing of certain employee financial disclosure forms and a decision to support legislation introduced into the General Assembly.
Cherrywood Lane
In 2014 the Low Impact Development Center received a grant from the Chesapeake Bay Trust on behalf of the city to develop a retrofit green street concept design for the reconstruction of Cherrywood Lane as a green and complete street. Plans were developed for three phases of the project, covering about a mile-and-a-half of Cherrywood Lane from Greenbelt Road to Edmonston Road. Phase 1 runs from the CVS parking lot entrance on Cherrywood to just before the roundabout at Metro Drive.
